"WHY IS THE MEDIA INFLUENCED BY SOCIAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXTS?"
- As part of your answer please include your own definitions and differences between culture and social contexts.
- Use the examples from the adverts we saw to illustrate your points.
Culture is the values and beliefs of a person and social context is the values and beliefs of multiple people making up a group called society. media is influenced by this because they mediate their views to fit the audience. for example, in the gillette advert they talk about femisnism and sexual harasment which has only come out now due to things such as the me too movement and people such as R Kelly comming out as a sexual predator. this is only apparent now as two years ago people didnt know or care about this therefore they use social context advertise their product because they know peoples views on this. they use culture to gain different opinions because they know everyone will have strong beliefs on the very popular subject.
- Corinne Bailey Rae - Stop Where You Are.
i like this music video because its use of social context which focused on problems such as crime and homelessness. this makes the best music video to analyse from list A due to this and their stereotypes used throughout for example the ally with a dark figure.
- David Guetta - Titanium.
i like this video because of the use of intertextuality such as stranger things and Spielberg features this makes the best music video from list B.
